The '''River Chionthar''' is a wide river that runs from the Far Hills to the Sword Coast. [[The Risen Road]] runs parallel to the river. In [[Baldur's Gate 3]], the player travels downriver along the Chionthar towards [[Baldur's Gate]]. 

Many cities and settlements are on or near the banks of the river. The citystate of [[Baldur's Gate]] has its harbour in the rivers estuary. [[Rivington]] is a small settlement on the south-eastern outskirts of Baldur's Gate. [[Wyrm's Crossing]], a double bridged fortress,allows the Coast Way to cross the Chionthar into Baldur's Gate. Continuing eastward and upriver one can find [[Reithwin Town]], [[Blighted Village|Moonhaven]], and the city of [[Elturel]], among others.
