Elin

Blaze Elin is the human fortress commander of the Flaming Fist in Wyrm's Rock. She guards the South Drawbridge Checkpoint and will prevent players from entering unless they fulfill her quest or pass an extremely difficult ability check.

Involvement

Elin can be found standing guard with two junior members of the Flaming Fist and three Steel Watchers. She must be spoken to in order to enter the city via the bridge. Based on the party's actions before approaching Elin, they have the following dialogue options:

• See this? I've been invited to the ordination (If a pass has been obtained)
• As you can see, I have an urgent dispach for Duke Ravengard. (If the Urgent Report for Duke Ravengard is stolen from Sword Coast Couriers)
• Investigator Valeria needs me in the Lower City - a serial killer's on the loose. (If the pass was given by Valeria)
• What's special about today?
• Not closed to Duke Ulder Ravengard's own son, surely? (if interacting as Wyll)
  • Wyll will also try this if he is present as a companion. It will not work in either case if he has been altered by Mizora.
• [BALDURIAN] Baldur's Gate is my home. I don't need permission to enter.
• [DECEPTION] An assassin is in pursuit of Duke Ravengard! I need to warn him! (Check of 30)
• [PERSUASION] I'm here to protect Archduke-Elect Gortash (Check of 30)
• [PERSUASION] Such a bother. What if I were to contribute to the 'Flaming Fist's Orphans' Fund'? (Check of 25 and 20,000 gold)
• [WARLOCK][DECEPTION] I am Lord Gortash's new occultist - let me pass or your name goes in the Book of Vile Darkness (Check of 30)
• [BARD][DECEPTION] Please let me in - I'm meant to be in the coronation orchestra, it's my big break! (Check of 30)

Choosing to enter by providing a pass gains an inspiration point from Astarion (Rock-Solid Alibi) and for those with a Noble background (Multipass).

 Melf's Acid Arrow ()

Shoot a green arrow that bursts in a spray of acid. Deals 4d4Acid damage immediately and 2d4Acid damage at the end of the target's next turn. If the spell misses, the target still takes half the initial damage, but no damage at the end of its next turn.

DEX Save

 Blight ()

8d8 (8~64) Necrotic

Deals 8d8Necrotic to a target. Plants take maximum damage from this spell, and have Disadvantage on the Saving throw against it.

CON Save

 Range: 9 m / 30 ft

 Conjure Elemental: Fire Elemental ()

The fire elemental can use  Smouldering Touch,  Erupting Cinder, and can make your foes  Burn.

 Range: 18 m / 60 ft

 Counterspell ()

Try to stop a spell being cast.

If it is higher level than the spell slot you used to Counterspell, you must make a check using your spellcasting ability^{[See Notes]} to prevent it. The check's difficult is equal to 10 plus the level of the spell you are trying to counter.

 Slow ()

Alter time around up to 6 enemies to Slow them. They won't get far, they can't do much, and they're easier to hit.
