This is a guide for maintenance on the wiki. For a list of maintainers, see BG3Wiki:Community.

This is a guide for maintaining the wiki, primarily intended for maintainers, but it may be useful for non-maintainers as well.

Special Maintenance pages can be found here: Special:SpecialPages.

The category Category:Wiki Maintenance has multiple maintenance pages and templates.

Roles and purpose

Maintainers perform wiki maintenance in general, including:

  • Delete pages marked for deletion.
  • Revert vandalism.
  • Patrol edits.
  • Protect pages.

Maintainers have no special activity requirements.

How to maintain the wiki

Deleting pages

To Delete a page, click More next to the search bar, and select Delete. Try to provide a reason for deleting an article. You can also use Special:DeletePage

See Category:Suggested for Deletion for articles that's been requested for deletion. Don't delete every page added to this category, because many articles are added by accident or because a page suggested for Deletion is transcluded onto it. Just remove the category from those pages.

Patrol edits

Patrol edits to mark them as safe for the wiki. In the Difference page of unpatrolled edits, simply click Mark as patrolled under the edit.

Use Special:Recentchanges to see edits.

Protect pages

If an article is a frequent target of vandalism, you can Protect it. Click More next to the search bar and select Protect. Then, select Allow for autoconfirmed users, and Confirm. Only Protect frequently edited pages that are often the subject of vandalism or are important in some other way.

Don't use any other user level without checking with an administrator first.

See Special:ProtectedPages for a list of protected pages.
