Zariel is the archdevil ruler of Avernus[1], the first layer of the Nine Hells. Tieflings of her bloodline, the Zariel Tieflings, are empowered with martial strength and can channel searing flames.

History

Zariel is a fallen angel. When she was still a Celestial, she was tasked with monitoring the Blood War. She took it upon herself to take action, and led an unsuccessful invasion of Avernus. She was defeated.[2]

She is credited with killing a horde of Yeenoghu's Gnolls.[3]
