Act One[edit | edit source]

Liam is one of the adventurers who accompanied Aradin Beno Aradin Beno to the Shattered Sanctum in hopes of finding the Nightsong. According to Remira Remira, Liam was the first to charge the goblins, but the other adventurers thought he was reckless and left him to his fate.

The party can find Liam in the Goblin Camp being interrogated by Spike Torturer Spike and Grush Grush. The party can show the goblins how to properly torture their prisoner. If successful, Liam reveals the location of the Grove and Spike Torturer Spike reports the information to Minthara Minthara. After the goblins leave, Liam does not believe the party is on his side and claims they could have killed him. The party can attempt to calm him with one of the following responses:

  • [PERSUASION] It was the only way to get the goblins to leave. (DC 5)
  • [INTIMIDATION] And yet you're still alive. Stop whining. (DC 10)
  • [BERSERKER] [INTIMIDATION] DON'T TEMPT ME. (DC 10 Advantage Icon.png)
  • [BARBARIAN] [INTIMIDATION] Might be tempted - unless you do as I say. (DC 10 Advantage Icon.png)
  • [DETECT THOUGHTS] [WISDOM] Read his mind.
    • Remira sent me. She said you were in trouble.

If the check is passed, the party can ask Liam about Halsin Halsin and his search for the Nightsong.

Alternatively, the party can free Liam by killing the goblins or convincing Torturer Spike to leave. If successfully released, Liam flees through a hidden exit in the same room. He can be found resting in the Emerald Grove next to his fellow adventures.
