Captain Leafsong is a high elf Druid and a high-ranking[1] member of the Harpers in Act Three. He joins Jaheira in the battle against the Dark Urge, should the latter choose to accept and embrace their heritage.

Greetings, Bhaalspawn. I hoped to see the High Harper walk out those doors with you.
Captain Leafsong greeting the Dark Urge.

Involvement

Temple of Bhaal

Should the Dark Urge defeat Orin Orin the Red and embrace Bhaal's gift, becoming the latter's Chosen, the Harpers will set up an ambush at the entrance of the Temple of Bhaal, provided Jaheira Jaheira is alive.

Led by Jaheira and accompanied by Minsc Minsc (if rescued), the Harpers will stand guard on the bridge leading out of the temple, preventing the party from leaving. The party will then have a brief exchange with Jaheira concerning the Dark Urge's role as the Chosen of Bhaal, and should Minsc be present, have the ability to psionically control him into stabbing Jaheira in the back through his Mind Flayer Tadpole. Doing so will immediately kill Jaheira, and trigger combat with Minsc, Leafsong, and the rest of the Harpers.

  • [WISDOM] Ease his confusion. Try to control him. (DC 25)

Alternatively, if the Dark Urge withdraws from Minsc's mind, Jaheira can potentially convince Gale Gale (if under 20 approval), Karlach Karlach (if under 40 approval), or Wyll Wyll (always) to turn their side, forcing the party to kill them in the ensuing fight with the Harpers.

Notes

  • Unlike other Harpers, Leafsong and his nearby Harpers do not conform to their organization's brown and blue colour patterns. Instead, Leafsong, as well as Freddo Freddo and Sulian Sulian, wear Druid Leather Armour identical to the ones worn by the Circle of the Emerald Grove and their insignias.
  • Leafsong serves as a contingency failsafe for the Harper ambush outside the Temple of Bhaal. He can take the lead in talking with the Dark Urge during the confrontation in the event that either Jaheira Jaheira or Minsc Minsc died in the temple.
    • However, as the confrontation can only be triggered if Jaheira is still alive, there are no natural ways to trigger his dialogue with the party, or the encounter without Jaheira's involvement.

  1. Leafsong is one of only two Harpers in the game to be given or referred to with a rank - the other being Jaheira Jaheira herself, who is referred to as a Commander at Last Light Inn.
