Mind Flayer Tadpole

Mind Flayer Tadpoles are Aberrations used by the Illithid to transform humanoids into Illithids through the process of Ceremorphosis. The player character and origin companions of Baldur's Gate 3 are infected with tadpoles. One of the first main Quests is to Find a Cure Find a Cure.

Act One[edit | edit source]

It is revealed in Act One that the Cult of the Absolute is related to the Illithid abductions. By seeking out different healers to find a cure, the party learn more about their affliction. It is also revealed that the player character can absorb more tadpoles, unlocking Illithid Powers.

If Auntie Ethel Auntie Ethel or Halsin Halsin is spoken to, it is revealed that the tadpoles are protected by shadow magic and cannot be removed by normal means. If the party initiate Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite Help Omeluum Investigate the Parasite, they can learn from Omeluum Omeluum that their mind flayer parasite is held in stasis.

The Dream Visitor can visit the player character and inform them that the order from the Absolute to trigger their ceremorphosis has been issued many times, but they have been blocking these orders.

Act Two[edit | edit source]

Towards the end of Act Two, it is revealed that the tadpoles are largely produced in the Mind Flayer Colony beneath Moonrise Towers.
