MTG Cards for Companions[edit source]
Hi,
do you know if there MTG Cards for the other Companions? If yes, they maybe could be added to the companions' pages. Hawkeye (talk) 22:04, 15 January 2025 (CET)
- There are! I can add them later :) AFrigidDoor (talk) 22:12, 15 January 2025 (CET)
- Thanks! Hawkeye (talk) 23:49, 15 January 2025 (CET)
- Oh, and can you add information on copyright of the cards to each image's summary section, please? Hawkeye (talk) 00:01, 16 January 2025 (CET)
- Is there something I can use as reference? Do I just add "Copyright belong to Wizards of the Coast" ? I've seen some pictures have something about Larian's "fan content policy" but I'm not sure how to add that. AFrigidDoor (talk) 00:11, 16 January 2025 (CET)
- Hm, i'm not sure, for larian there is {{larian}}, but i'm not sure about WotC. You can select a licence on the page where you can upload an image Hawkeye (talk) 00:18, 16 January 2025 (CET)
- From which site are the images of the MtG cards? Hawkeye (talk) 00:19, 16 January 2025 (CET)
- It depended. Some of them were from an official site (Gatherer - Wizards of the Coast) some of them were from a website called Scryfall, and some of them I can't remember where I got them from.
- I can see that there are several templates for copyright licenses, but none exactly cover what I have added- that is unless MTG Cards can't be shown on wikis, which sounds unlikely? AFrigidDoor (talk) 00:29, 16 January 2025 (CET)
- Hm, I'm not sure about this, that's because I asked.
- An entry with exact, accurate information in terms of copyright and permission to use this images on sites / pages like this wiki is mandatory. Otherwise the images, although I like them very much, must be removed or it might become expensive for the owner of this wiki. Which is not me by the way. Hawkeye (talk) 00:32, 16 January 2025 (CET)
- It seems, we could use the images according to the WotC image policy. Stiil have to have find out which template has to be used. Hawkeye (talk) 09:38, 16 January 2025 (CET)
- I saw! It might be that we have to make a custom one (...Can I just copypaste the bit under Licensing from the FR wiki?) or that it falls under fancontent, but that sounded like fanart to me in the way that was described. Will ask on Discord again.
- WoTC's policy says the following, so I'm not sure anymore, if we are allowed to use the MtG Cards:
- What kind of stuff does “Fan Content” cover?
- Pretty much anything you create based on or incorporating our IP. Fan Content includes fan art, videos, podcasts, blogs, websites, streaming content, tattoos, altars to your cleric’s deity, etc. The key is that it is your creation. It should go without saying, but Fan Content does not include the verbatim copying and reposting of Wizards’ IP (e.g., freely distributing D&D® rules content or books, creating counterfeit/proxy Magic: The Gathering® cards, etc.), regardless of whether that content is distributed for free.
- So, what exactly is Wizards IP?
- Wizards IP includes the cards, creatures, books, games, gameplay, pictures, stories, logos, animations, artwork, plots, locations, histories, characters, graphics, files, text, and other materials published by Wizards of the Coast. Hawkeye (talk) 12:53, 16 January 2025 (CET)
- What you posted is confusing since the artwork from the cards is being posted on other wikis, and it seems to be part of the description here. I'm as unsure. AFrigidDoor (talk) 12:58, 16 January 2025 (CET)
