== Access ==
It is accessed through the Stone Door in the [[Sacred Pool]]. There are four frescos in the Inner Sanctum, depicting the history of the Emerald Grove. 

== Overview ==
{{CharLink|Kagha}}, the acting leader of the druids, can be found in the Inner Sanctum. The [[Servants' Quarters]] can be found to the North-East, and the [[Druids' Chambers]] to the North. The Healer {{CharLink|Nettie}} can be found in the Druid's Chamber, and is capable of unlocking the entrance to the [[Enclave Library]].

When the party first enters, Kagha will be deciding the fate of {{CharLink|Arabella}}. The party may intervene to {{Quest|Save Arabella}}. If the party does not, Arabella will try to run. Kagha's snake [[Teela]] will pursue and kill the young girl. 

Talking to {{CharLink|Rath}} or Kagha can begin the quest {{Quest|Investigate Kagha}}, as will reading the {{SmRarityItem|Rite of Thorns Scroll}} in the [[Servants' Quarters]], or finding Kagha's Chest. 

If Kagha is exposed, the rats {{CharLink|Olodan}}, {{CharLink|Wren}} and {{CharLink|Pinta}} will reveal themselves to be wildshaped Shadow Druids. Kagha has made a deal with Olodan to enact the [[Rite of Thorns]] and deliver the [[Emerald Grove]] to the Shadow Druids. In return, she'll be made First Druid.

If convincing Kagha to reconsider, she will join the party and the other druids in fighting the Shadow Druids.

The Servants' Quarters are found to the north-west of the Inner Sanctum. A stone desk stands in the middle, with {{SmRarityItem|Rite of Thorns Scroll}} and {{SmRarityItem|The Emerald Enclave: Tenets}} on it. Behind the desk is a stone bookshelf, flanked by two glowing bear statues.

The Druids' Chambers is found to the north of the Inner Sanctum. A tall statue of an elk sits in the middle of the room. There are several stone beds and what appears to be a preparation area for potions. A cauldron of theriac boils between alembics and destillers. The Healer {{CharLink|Nettie}} who is part of {{Quest|Get Help from Healer Nettie}} can be found here. Nettie can unlock the hidden entrance to the Enclave Library.

The Enclave Library is hidden behind a false wall in the Druids' Chambers. A big statue of a wolf stands in the middle, and in each cardinal direction is a plinth with a rune. One of the runes is missing. Small alcoves to the north, west and east contain more bookshelves.

The Enclave Library has been used as a makeshift autopsy table, and a Dissected Drow lies on a stone slab. Halsin's notes can be found nearby. A hidden entrance to the [[Hidden Vault]] can be accessed with the {{SmRarityItem|Rune of the Wolf}}.

At the entrance of the Sanctum starting from the west side of the room and continuing along to the east side are frescos depict the legacy of the Emerald Grove. A variety of [[Skill Check]]s can be done to decipher the story from the frescos.

The first fresco requires {{Ability Check|Religion|10}} and shows druids and Sylvanus, the Old Oak. The plaque explains that the grove was under threat.

The second fresco requires {{Ability Check|Investigation|10}} and shows how the druids and the forest itself rose against the threat, though in recent times other threats have emerged.

The third fresco in the eastern corner of the room requires {{Ability Check|Religion|10}} and reveals that during their 'Darkest Hour', the druids entered a concord with the [[Harpers]] to fight 'the shade'. This relates to the rise of {{CharLink|Ketheric Thorm}} as a servant of {{CharLink|Shar}}, taking over the region around [[Moonrise Towers]] and threatening the surroundings lands.

The last fresco needs {{Ability Check|History|5}} to fully decipher, though {{CharLink|Shadowheart}} can do it without making a check at all. While their opponents are left ambiguous, the final victory fresco shows a Sharran helmet broken at their feet. This suggests that Shar, or her followers, was involved. The mention of Moonrise might suggest that {{CharLink|Selûne}} intervened as well. If Shadowheart is in the party, she will more or less confirm this.

Succeeding all of the checks earns the [[File:Inspiration Icon.png|21x21px|link=]][[Inspiration|Inspirational Event]] ''Roots of the Grove'' ([[Sage]] background).

[[Druid]] characters do no require skill checks to identify the events in the first two murals, and get unique narration dialogue for them. Likewise, [[Cleric]]s and Shadowheart get unique narration for the last mural.
