}}'''Kith'rak Voss''' is a ruthless [[Githyanki]] knight in the service of his queen, [[Vlaakith]], and rides a red dragon steed named [[Qudenos]].  

==Background==

Voss is a [[Kith'rak]] in Githyanki society, a fearsome warrior captain who reports directly to the lich queen [[Vlaakith|Vlaakith CLVII]]. Per [[Lae'zel]] and lore found in-game, Voss has been the right-hand knight of Vlaakith and her predecessors, dating back to Vlaakith I, who succeeded the first Githyanki leader [[Gith]] thousands of years in the past. [[Qudenos]] the [[Dragon|Red Dragon]] is his steed and closest comrade.

 

Voss is direct and ruthless, expecting the deference due to Vlaakith's personal silver sword. Other Gith [[NPC|NPC's]], including [[Lae'zel]], hold him in esteem and may even be cowed by his presence. He will still talk with—and potentially even be friendly to—non-Gith, but Githyanki characters<ref>Or a character appearing as a Githyanki using {{SAI|Disguise Self}}</ref> will have special interactions with Voss that reflect their place in Gith society.

 

If Kith'rak Voss or his Githyanki underlings are approached by the player, he will interrogate the player about the object of his mission, the [[Mysterious Artefact]], which he believes is a powerful weapon that can be used against the [[Mind Flayer]]s.  

 

The interrogation is a gauntlet of [[Ability check|ability checks]]. The player must first try to convince Voss not to kill them on the spot,<ref>[[Fighter|Fighters]] and possibly other classes{{Verify}} may pass this dialogue without a check.</ref> followed by additional checks to resist a casting of {{SAI|Detect Thoughts}}, followed by a third check to end the interrogation peacefully. Failing these checks or opting for violence will initiate combat with the Gith soldiers.

Regardless of how the interrogation ends, Voss will depart on Qudenos once the dialogue has finished. He does not participate in combat.

[[Lae'zel]] will leave and approach Voss on her own during this encounter<ref>If Lae'zel is freed from the Tieflings' cage but not invited to travel with the player, they can later encounter her running up to Kith'rak Voss just after this introductory scene triggers.</ref>. If the player follows her, the event proceeds as above. If the player leaves and takes a Long Rest, though, Lae'zel will die, Voss will be gone, and the other Githyanki under his command will be hostile.
