When you fail your D20 roll for the DC to steal an item from a vendor's inventory, the game tells you that you failed the Slight of Hand '''Saving Throw''', as opposed to a skill check. Also, it seems that you don't get all the skill proficiencies you should have for Slight of Hand, including casting a Guidance on the character doing the stealing. Guidance seems to have no effect whatsoever. So it seems that pickpocketing is actually some kind of Saving Throw instead of a skill check, making it that harder to succeed the rolls if you go into the endeavor believing you have boni through the roof that won't acutally apply. | When you fail your D20 roll for the DC to steal an item from a vendor's inventory, the game tells you that you failed the Slight of Hand '''Saving Throw''', as opposed to a skill check. : That's very interesting. I've noticed that the game occasionally also says that I've failed a "Stealth Saving Throw". I wonder if this is intentional, or a bug. Also, if it's a Saving Throw, theoretically [[Resistance]] should work and provide the same bonus that [[Guidance]] would have. Not fully confirmed, but during gameplay, if you detatch the person stealing from the rest of the squad, steal, then go to camp, the rest of the squad will be targeted and asked about the crime, but you'll have an option to simply say it wasn't you, and the person will believe you and move on. you can then take a long rest and go back to the scene of crime like nothing happened. | |||

When you fail your D20 roll for the DC to steal an item from a vendor's inventory, the game tells you that you failed the Slight of Hand Saving Throw, as opposed to a skill check. -- Anonymous Comment

extra tip[edit source]
Not fully confirmed, but during gameplay, if you detatch the person stealing from the rest of the squad, steal, then go to camp, the rest of the squad will be targeted and asked about the crime, but you'll have an option to simply say it wasn't you, and the person will believe you and move on. you can then take a long rest and go back to the scene of crime like nothing happened.
Robbing a Shop Owner - Still loosing discount even at Success[edit source]
First Attempts without Distraction: As the article mentioned the shop owner is running around and you have to hide. But you always loose your Discount. In my tries they always was the slider back in the middle afterwards.
With distraction ( Bard appearance ) If you distract him and steal something you will still loose the Discount as soon as you buy something with the thief.
Everything as it should be. I noticed today that my Discount is dropping with every Person which is wearing Items of him. Did not thought that they would actual implement a mechanic like that. Also old Post misleads me to that false conclusion.
