Elturel is a city in the Western Heartlands of West Faerûn. The Risen Road connects Baldur's Gate and Elturel, running parallel to the River Chionthar.

Elturel was briefly dragged into Avernus as part of a infernal conspiracy, a terrible event referred to as "The Descent" or "The Fall of Elturel". After the city returned to the Heartland surface, fear and distrust led to the exile of Elturels tiefling population. The tiefling refugees can be encountered in the Druid Grove in act 1.
