Book locations

Is this maybe a situation where the book which is spawned is somewhat random, if one spawns at all? If so, I can see both sides. Raelin (talk) 01:47, 23 September 2025 (CEST)

I recently did a run where I collected books, and this wiki was a valuable source of information. The entry you're blindly defending, in spite of the style guide telling you it's not necessary, was sincerely misleading to me, leaving me entirely unsure of where I could possibly find this book without starting over from the very beginning of the game. While we all strive for clarity and accuracy, keeping in mind that this wiki operates on consensus, it's probably not realistic to expect all readers will, on all occasions, read any particular entry and come way completely satisfied.

Speaking only for myself, I found Hawkeye's most recent edit as of 12 Nov 2025 to be clear and concise. To me, content that misleads is worse than no content at all, and the only reason this is being maintained is due to the first version of this page. My assumption is the first editor found the book and just wrote that in the "where to find" section without recognising it as part of a loot table (and did the same to two other books).

I'm probably getting so worked up about this due to my book collection run, as this did negatively affect the usability of the wiki for me. I won't edit this again, just to keep the peace, but note me as firmly against including the specific bookshelves for future edits. Susaga (talk) 22:15, 12 November 2025 (CET)

If you find other items that do not spawn consistently (i.e. have any degree of randomness), I think we would all like to know.

I found a section in the style guide: "When an item can be found in multiple places, list all known locations. Exception: For generic loot, it is not necessary to document every location via text." As the UID labels it GEN and it is listed in a treasure table, we don't need to list the bookshelves. Susaga (talk) 15:44, 25 September 2025 (CEST)
