bg3wiki:Backups

As with any website, we occasionally experience outages. We do our best to resolve them as quickly as possible, but it can take up to a few hours to get the main site back up. Outage reports should be directed to the #wiki-technical channel of the discord, which is also where updates about the situation will be posted. There are steps you can take to continue using the wiki during an outage, albeit in a degraded capacity:

Cache

If you are logged in, the server needs to generate parts of the page dynamically (e.g. your username in the top right corner, the edit buttons based on your permissions, any custom CSS you have stored, etc.). During more minor outages the cache persists and can be accessed through an incognito browser window. The search function will not work, but you can use google as a substitute, as they maintain their own index. Just add site:bg3.wiki to your query.

Live Backup

We also maintain a complete live backup of the site at https://old.bg3.wiki/. It is called "old.bg3.wiki" because:

• It may serve outdated content due to aggressive caching of pages for a longer duration.
• On a server migration, the name is assigned to the old server, which becomes the backup server.
• It is overridden periodically by the current version of the main site. This means any edits you make to the backup site will be lost.
