Editing Mapping of the Heart

The '''Mapping of the Heart''' is a ritual carried out by the [[Viconia DeVir|Inquisitor of Shar]] at the [[House of Grief]]. The mapping is performed on whoever sits on the stone bench at {{Coords|-272|9}}. Only one character per run can undergo the Mapping of the Heart. [[Shadowheart]] will have a unique interaction with the Inquisitor on the bench and will not complete a typical mapping.

The answers to the mapping affect the battle with the [[Viconia DeVir]] by giving her two specialized spells {{SAI|Castigate Heartform}} and {{SAI|Mapped Terror}}. The Mapping can be skipped entirely by passing a {{Ability check|Investigation|20}} to find a button on the wall that opens the hidden passage to the [[Cloister of Sombre Embrace]].

== Questions ==
The questions are always asked in the same order. The answers provided to each question award a hidden value towards generating the Heartform, similar to how dialogue choices can improve or reduce [[Approval]] with companions.
* "What last caused you to shed a tear?"
** Grief. (Craven -1)
** Loneliness. (False -1, Craven -1, Violent +1)
** A wound. (Yearning +2)
** An onion. (Craven +1, False +2)
** A beautiful sunset. (Jealous +1, Violent+2)
** Never happened. (False +2)
* A {{Ability check|Perception|18}} is made before the next question. If successful, the character has the opportunity to cut the mapping short at this point and delivering the Heartform based only on the first answer.

* "What is your unspoken desire?"
** To run away from it all. (Violent -1, Craven +2)
** To indulge every hunger, every lust. (Yearning +2, False -1, Jealous +2)
** To dominate. (Jealous +1, Violent +2, Craven -1)
** To be dominated. (Yearning +1, Violent-1, Prying+1)
** To be held. (Yearning +1, Prying +1)
** To bathe in wealth and power. (False +1, Jealous +1, Violent +1)
* "What is your greatest fear?" (This question also assigns fear to your character. Not sure if this has an impact on anything else)

** Turning into a mind flayer. (False -1, Prying +1)
** Spiders. (Violent -1, Craven +1)
* "How would you spite one who wronged you?"

** I would challenge them publicly, and humiliate them before all. (Yearning +1, Jealous +1, Violent +2)

** I spare them - but hunt down their beloved. (False +1, Violent +1, Craven +1)
** I would fabricate a grave threat, and let them live in fear of it. (Yearning +1, Prying -1, False +2)
* "How would you feel, if all your burdens were lifted?"
** I would be happy. (Yearning +1, False -1, Craven -1)
** I would be restless. (Yearning +2, Violent +1, Prying +1)
** I would be suspicious. (Violent -1, False +2)
** I would manifest new burdens within a tenday. (Jealous +1, Yearning +2, Prying +1)

== Outcomes ==
The outcomes of the mapping affect the [[Viconia DeVir]] battle in two ways. She applies a curse using {{SAI|Castigate Heartform}}, the effect of which is altered by the heartform she decides for the party. Secondly, your answer to "your greatest fear" changes the effect of her [[Mapped Terror]] ability.

* {{Cond|Prying Heart}} - "You crave insights and secrets that are not your own. You live through others, and neglect the self. We can help you rediscover you."
* {{Cond|Violent Heart}} - "Rage grips you. Blood inflames you."
