Umi can first be encountered in the training area of [[The Hollow]] inside the [[Emerald Grove]], being trained by [[Asharak]] together with [[Gan]] and [[Ide]]. He is the most scared of the group and does not seem to be enjoying his training. He can either be encouraged or discouraged by what the party says to him and the rest of the children when prompted by [[Asharak]]. If the Grove is successfully defended from the goblins, he will reveal that he left his training sword in the cave.

If Umi survives Act One, he can be found dealing with [[Rolan]] alongside Ide at [[Last Light Inn]]'s bar, where it will be revealed that Rolan saved him and the other children. If [[Resolve the Abduction]] is completed with [[Isobel]] staying at Last Light, [[Mol]] will nonetheless be kidnapped by a [[Winged Horror]] and the tiefling children will start arguing about what to do. Umi will be reluctant to go after her, stating that they don't know how to reach Moonrise.
