Looks like you can permanently acquire Shovel on up to two characters, as long as the first one is a Wizard, by summoning Shovel either before or after getting passed the mirror (but only one person may get it in a 4 person multiplayer party). If summoning Shovel before opening the mirror, you must speak to her before opening the mirror twice, otherwise causing the mirror to open will lock her in the dialogue about trust. If summoning Shovel after opening the mirror, you also need to speak to her twice in a row but unsure if it requires reading the Necromancy of Thay or just picking it up so she isn't locked into trying to trick you about the dialogue with the mirror.

i just tried this in honor mode as a storm sorcerer, and I still got the scared dialogue
