At first I used Shadownheart to speak with Dame Alyn at the camp the night before reaching Baldurs Gate - then I didn't receive the spear and remembered about the bug. Selune's Spear of Night is still bugged[edit source]
I can confirm that there is a bug that would not allow you to get the spear even if you talk with you main character instead of Shadownheart.
At first I used Shadownheart to speak with Dame Alyn at the camp the night before reaching Baldurs Gate - then I didn't receive the spear and remembered about the bug. Realoaded the save before talking with Alyn, spoke with her using my main hero and still did not receive the spear after completing the quest.
