Selûne's Spear of Night

Not to be confused with Spear of Night and Shar's Spear of Evening

Selûne's Spear of Night is a legendary +3 Spear which allows the wielder to cast Moonbeam and grants Darkvision as well as Advantage on Wisdom Saving Throws and Perception Checks.
'One of the goddess Selûne's titles, Moonmaiden, has often been debated among the ecclesiastical. Common symbology certainly rejects the assumption of virginity. More to the point, 'maiden' itself carries some dusty connotations. How about Lunar Lady? Keeps the alliteration, too' - Margaery Henderplum

Where to find
- Given to Shadowheart by Aylin at the campsite
Notes
- Steps for acquisition:
- Shadowheart must be present in the Shadowfell; she leaves the party upon returning from the Shadowfell if they enter without her and becomes hostile if the party insist on entering the Shadowfell without the Spear of Night in the inventory of the active party.
- Aylin must survive The Chosen of Shar.
- The player character must speak with Aylin in camp after Ketheric is defeated.
Regarding Darkvision:
- The actual distance of Darkvision often depends on the creature that has this feature. The values above are the default for playable races.
- When a hiding creature enters the line of sight of a creature with darkvision, and is within the range of darkvision:
- Being Lightly Obscured counts as being under Clear Area instead.
- Being Heavily Obscured counts as being Lightly Obscured instead.
- The same applies to Superior Darkvision, just with a longer range.
- Also granted by Sarevok's Horned Helmet and Sunwalker's Gift.
- More information on Darkvision mechanics and its potential combat implications can be found here.
Bugs
Regarding Darkvision:
- Normally, a creature gains Advantage when making a ranged attack from within magical Darkness, assuming it can do so via a feature such as Devil's Sight that grants vision in magical darkness. However, if the target of the attack has Darkvision, and the attacker is within the target's Darkvision range, then the attacker gains no advantage. This is despite the fact that Darkvision does not grant vision in magical darkness.
