This is one of the rolls that just appears in the combat log without the dice animation. I think it might be that the passive doesn't have any effect when the dice animation appears, because it'll let you choose if you fail the roll anyway. For rolls where it's in the chat log they might only use it when you fail the first dice roll so that your resource is conserved if you don't need to use it. Which is actually not ideal if your goal is to trigger wild magic rather than get advantage on the dice roll, but can still be helpful.}}

Tides of Chaos is a Reaction that grants Advantage on your next Attack Roll, Ability Check, or Saving Throw and increases the chance of a Wild Magic surge afterwards to 50% (normally 5%).
