I think it might be that the passive doesn't have any effect when the dice animation appears, because it'll let you choose if you fail the roll anyway. For rolls where it's in the chat log they might only use it when you fail the first dice roll so that your resource is conserved if you don't need to use it. Which is actually not ideal if your goal is to trigger wild magic rather than get advantage on the dice roll, but can still be helpful.}} | ||

Tides of Chaos is a Reaction that grants Advantage on your next Attack Roll, Ability Check, or Saving Throw and increases the chance of a Wild Magic surge afterwards to 50% (normally 5%).
Description
Gain Advantage on your next
Attack roll,
Ability Check, or
Saving throw. Increased chance of surge afterwards.
Properties
- Cost:
-
Tides of Chaos Charge
Condition: Tides of Chaos
Duration: Until Long rest
- Increased chance of surge (to 50%).
- Lost immediately after casting a Level 1 or higher Spell and rolling a Check.
How to learn
Classes:
- Class level 1: Wild Magic Sorcerer
Notes
- Normally, a
d20 is rolled each time a leveled spell is cast. If the result is 20, a Surge is triggered. Tides of Chaos reduces the Difficulty Class (DC) to 11 (i.e. a 50% chance).
- Although it is a Reaction, it does not consume a Reaction resource.
Bugs
- Tides of Chaos as a passive toggle is currently (as of v4.1.1.6072089) bugged and does nothing; it is only usable as a reaction.[Needs Verification]
