I suggest we do make the colours meaningful and provide useful information. The illithid powers consist of 5 branches, every branch starts with an ability in the innermost circle. Giving every branch their own colour will make it visually clear which early abilities are required for which later abilities. | I suggest we do make the colours meaningful and provide useful information. The entire spellcasting section seems completely inaccurate or at least conflicts with the "Spells" page of this wiki. This seems much more probable given that your avatar is encouraged to use the tadpoles as part of the main storyline, which could be from any class. Illithid Power Stat Scaling[edit source]
This hasn't been mentioned anywhere on the page, but Illithid Powers appear to scale with your best mental ability score (int/wis/cha). I initially thought that it was simply based on the Primary Ability by my Warlock using Charisma, but that was disproven by my Monk using Wisdom for her powers. I'm fairly inexperienced in wiki-writing and was wondering how it would be best to write all this down in the Illithid Powers page proper. Thoughts?
- Seems pretty significant information. Maybe a "General Information"/"Mechanics" section, is justified? I'm kind of surprised this page doesn't already have one. I'd say just go ahead and add it however you feel is best. Better to add relevant info, than to have it missing. Otherwise, checking out similar pages can help with style guidance for adding a new section to a page.
- You might find the Notes and Verify templates useful for adding information like this, though neither are a requirement. If in doubt, just add a paragraph to the start of the 'Notes' section. You or other editors can later decide how best to incorporate it into the main article. A wiki is intended to be a flexible document, after all. Llamageddon (talk) 14:54, 24 September 2023 (CEST)
Illithid Persuasion[edit source]
Illithid Persuasion is not unlocked automatically. Primary group chars got it unlocked (probably cause illithid dialog choice was used with them in group). Others do not have it unlocked.
more meaningful colours[edit source]
The gallery has an image which shows all the powers with coloured lines connecting the icon and the tooltip. The image gives the impression that the powers of the same colour are grouped, but that's actually not the case because the choice of colour was random and meaningless. I suggest we do make the colours meaningful and provide useful information. The illithid powers consist of 5 branches, every branch starts with an ability in the innermost circle. Giving every branch their own colour will make it visually clear which early abilities are required for which later abilities.
Act 1 Gifts[edit source]

Spellcasting ability modifier[edit source]
The entire spellcasting section seems completely inaccurate or at least conflicts with the "Spells" page of this wiki. That page states that Illithid powers use the spell save dc for the given class or multiclass, similar to how it is calculated for items or weapons. This seems much more probable given that your avatar is encouraged to use the tadpoles as part of the main storyline, which could be from any class. Randomly using hidden spellcasting modifiers that differ for each power wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. 86.127.222.231 18:27, 25 August 2024 (CEST)
- You're absolutely correct. That whole section seems to be based on a misinterpretation that a Intelligence (or Strength) saving throw means the ability uses your INT (or STR) modifier for the DC.
- I'll correct it to match the information in the spells page (which is correct). NtCarlson (talk) 18:33, 25 August 2024 (CEST)
