(The "trauma" was referring to Viconia having nightmares about Lolth's actions, which did happen and was clearly established in Baldur's Gate 2. In addition, Viconia did show compassion for children in her dialogues in the previous game, such as: "That is your considered opinion, is it? You would prefer I lance the heart of a helpless child? You are more of a dolt than I thought, perhaps", "I had begun to question Lolth's appetite for power and absolute devotion with the child", etc.)
