Seems like a reference to Jurassic Park[edit source]

Its a Red Herring[edit source]
Considering that behind the display case where this is found is the very SECRET entrance to the actual location of the Blood of Lathander, I believe that this is intended to throw treasure hunters/adversaries off the scent. A treasure hunter/adversary would find this, thinking it is the real Blood of Lathander, and leave, never realising the real Blood of Lathander was hidden behind the wall and its defences. - IMO the amber chunk was placed in the display case by the gith after plundering the monastery. At least the plaque at the feet of the huge statue of Lathander in the inner yard (right before entering the creche) says that the fake blood was first laying on the altar right there. Upon reading the plaque, any party member says something like "it was just asking to be stolen" Arikel (talk) 12:43, 6 April 2025 (CEST)
- The real Blood of Lathander was originally at that statue, but that was before it was placed into a mace. The monastery was attacked by I believe Sharrans (I could be wrong on that) in the past, and the Blood of Lathander was damaged and became unstable. They stabilised it by fashioning it into a mace, and then hiding it underground behind layered defences. Imperator Class (talk) 08:31, 9 April 2025 (CEST)
- If this is something of D&D lore, then I'm not too versed in this. I can only say what is there in game dialogues, hints and files. The real BoL was indeed snatched by Sharrans and retrieved back by "Paladin Vaseid", obviously the very same who later became one of Dawnmasters. There are three books in the ruins named "His Holy Blood, Vol 1-2-3" that give this story in short. The last of the books tells about encasing the relic "into steel" right after retrieveing it, and goes on about founding a small chapel and turning it into a monastery (seemingly Rosymorn). Therefore, by the time the monastery was erected, the relic had already beed stolen, returned and made into a mace. But there are no in-game hints of whether the "blood" that was stored in plain sight at the feet of the statue was real (the mace itself) or fake one, and this can only be speculations. Possible nitpick about quote in notes section[edit source]
For me, Shadowheart says "Is this the Blood of Lathander? A bit underwhelming, for a relic." instead of "Is this it? Seems a little underwhelming for a holy relic". Unsure if is a origin or sh-specific difference or how much the wiki cares about exactitude for this kind of thing. Angainor (talk) 06:37, 3 June 2025 (CEST)
- The quote used in the page seems to be the generic Tav version. The origin characters each have a unique variant:
- Astarion: This is an ancient holy relic? It doesn't feel that ancient. Or holy.
- Gale: Hmm. Seems a touch... underwhelming.
- Karlach: This can't be the blood of Lathander, can it? It's a bit... eh.
- Lae'zel: The Blood of Lathander. Hardly impressive as relics go.
- Shadowheart: Is this the Blood of Lathander? A bit underwhelming, for a relic.
- Wyll: So this is what passes as a holy relic? I expected a little more drama, honestly.
- Tav: Is this it? Seems a little underwhelming for a holy relic.
