:::I'm sorry but yes I did. I repeated the test and yes, it worked. Are you maybe thinking it requires putting the painting in your inventory? (See how I politely tried to understand your point of view before saying something snarky like "you didn't even try". Just saying) You can insert the painting into the "Insert" dialog box with a drag-and-drop, without actually picking it up. Like moving a chair or something that isn't allowed in your inventory. I can't say if this is peculiar to the patched version I was using at the time, but I can say it does work on the BG3 versions available during the last few months.
