::Agree with the above, I also found the notes in the game files on highest approval behind the kidnapping priority. Regarding romances, the spam filter prevented me from linking to the IGN interview ("Baldur's Gate 3 Developers Explain Its Controversial Endings, Beloved Characters, and Making the Best RPG of 2023") where the developers discussed how they changed away from having the romanced partner always being the kidnap victim based on playtest feedback. :I am almost 100% sure its a priority list. My set up: Lae'zel 94 approval, Gale 100, Halsin and Minthy 58 each. If no one was in the party, Lae'zel was taken every time. It is actually possible to avoid the kidnapping before confronting Orin, unless they've changed it. There are ground triggers for the kidnap event. The east one can simply be avoided. The north one can be avoided by having a character blink over it, then activate the waypoint behind it. The party can then use the waypoint as needed to access the north sewers / catacombs, bypassing the trigger. | It is actually possible to avoid the kidnapping before confronting Orin, unless they've changed it.
