Going to the atelier is quite easy with the right tools to deal with a number of cursed skulls. The skulls deal thunder damage and knock back the party. Use Silence to stop the skulls from casting their spells and then utilize remove curse or simply use throw a "thrown" bludgeoning weapon at them, which will destroy them in one attack.

I have found that having shadowheart or another cleric with Spirit Guardians spell up with radiant damage works well they can just walk up the stairs and take out the skulls easy peasy.
