Talk:Bernard

The silence stretches on forever. Can I hold your hands, for just a while?[edit section]

This particular quote from Lenore's papers makes me cry every time I play through the tower Bernard resides in. Perhaps it's because it reminds me of my own loneliness. Clawing to artifical intelligence, for any scrap of comfort that could be found. Lenore programmed the function of hugging her and reassuring her into Bernard herself. How unbelievably sad.

Lenore's story in this game is oft overlooked, I feel. It's beautiful and heartbreaking. Lenore likely died somewhere in the underdark, alone and sad.

The page is so drenched in tears that it is nearly illegible. I wonder if it was luck that preserved the passage or perhaps some magic cast by Lenore to preserve the meaning, no matter how she weeps.

Thank you for reading if anyone does. There was no message in this. I just wanted to let known be my attachment to this particular tower and it's only remaining meaningful resident. I'm certain Bernard would have properly comforted Lenore if he had the capacity. He would have held her hands as long as she needed, hugged without needing a pass-phrase to realize she needed to be held.

I hope whoever you are, that you are cherished and loved. No one deserves to feel lonely.
