Astarion vampire ascendent[edit source]

Just an additional fact, my testing shows when used by Astarion after the ritual this sword does not get the automatic 1d10 necrotic damage bonus.

No, this is not so. The mouse-over on the weapon symbol is usually inaccurate, e.g. it never adds GWM-All-In +10 damage. And neither does it show both effects, if there are two (or more) damage riders of the same type. E.g. in this case, the weapon has +1d4 Necrotic, and so the additional +1d10 Necrotic from Astarion's Ascension doesn't show up there. If you want to see the actual damage, you need to mouse-over on the attack symbol (in this case the sword-symbol in the hot-bar. --Gewinnste (talk) 01:29, 2 August 2025 (CEST)Reply[reply]

Weak and lame[edit source]

Just a short, annoying rant regarding this weapon: It really wouldn't have made it imba if the crit-reduction would still work with a weapon in the off-hand or at the very least, a shield (ftlog!). All non-Two-handed / non-Versatile weapons (except the Deva Mace and a level 5-Shadow Blade) are pathetically underpowered anyways because they don't get the +10 damage from GWM-All-In (or the other way around: Two-handed and Versatile weapons are imba), so they could really have given this Rapier the crit-reduction in all circumstances! I mean, when would one EVER equip this weapon as it is now, if there's Nyrulna(+Bhaalist Armour), Balduran's Giant Slayer, the Astral Silversword (or even just the Soulbreaker!), etc.? With Bhaalist Armour it's good, but Nyrulna (or ANY other two-handed/versatile Piercing weapon) is wayyyyy better (gets +20 (!!) damage when used two-handed!). A crit-reduction of 1 just isn't good enough to make up for a lack of GWM-All-In, but if you could get a crit-reduction of 2, e.g. together with the Undermountain King Knife, or the special effects of a shield ... that would make it kind of viable, and it would be one of the extremely rare cases where dual-wielding isn't outright terrible. --Gewinnste (talk) 01:29, 2 August 2025 (CEST)Reply[reply]
