I have read conflicting information about how this passive feature determines the Spellcasting Ability Modifier of the character. Does anyone know, how it is determined? I have read that it does not pick Charisma or the highest Ability Score, but the one associated with the class you took the most levels in. If they are equal, it supposedly picks the higher score. However, items seem to determine the Spellcasting Ability Modifier of the character based on the last class, you took a first level in (e.g. the last class you multiclassed into) and the Wiki states as much on the Spells page. Does Pact of the Blade follow a different rule? It seems like a mess if the game uses multiple different ways of determining the Spellcasting Ability Modifiers of a given character at the same time. - A

: Pact of the Blade always uses Charisma for the attack roll, not the generic spellcasting modifier that may change when multiclassing. In general, any spell or feature from a class (including Pact of the Blade) will correct use that class's spellcasting modifier. The only place where the (IMO awkward) multiclassed spellcasting modifier rules apply is for things not tied to classes like item spells, illithid powers, or anything else that shows on the "Common" tab in your spell book.Β  [[User:NtCarlson|NtCarlson]] ([[User talk:NtCarlson|talk]]) 17:39, 21 December 2023 (CET)
