Sword Coast

The Sword Coast is a region of Faerûn along its northwestern coast. It is where the majority of the events of Baldur's Gate III take place, more specifically along the north bank of the Chionthar river between the cities of Baldur's Gate and Elturel.

The dimensions of the Sword Coast are somewhat subjective (both in- and out-of-universe), and overlap with other regional concepts such as "the Western Heartlands" and "the North". The Sword Coast's southern border is generally agreed to be the  Cloud Peaks, which separate it from Amn. The northern border is usually given as Waterdeep, but some sources go further up to  Neverwinter or  Luskan. The eastern (inland) border is the vaguest, with different sources placing it anywhere from the  Misty Forest and  Wood of Sharp Teeth to the  Sunset Mountains and  Anauroch desert.
