Effect only works with weapon attack, not a spell attack roll.[edit source]

Item does not clarify, but the Executioner passive only works with an attack roll made by a weapon. Very sad to find this out, I thought I'd get to use it selectively with attack roll cantrips to combo with other effects, but Gale will have to critical with his staff, lol.

Bug description still remains unclear[edit source]

This effect appears unclear:
"If the reaction trigger is instead set to 'Ask', then the player character is prompted to turn the target's saving throw into a 20 after making a weapon attack that triggers Executioner."
Does this mean the user can decline the prompt? If they can, and then do decline it, what happens then? Raelin (talk) 19:03, 24 January 2026 (CET)Reply

If they decline the prompt then the enemy does not get an automatic 20 on its saving throw roll. Basically the whole crux of this bug is that a player can inadvertently agree to give the enemy a free 20 roll without knowing it. Rydiak (talk) 20:13, 24 January 2026 (CET)Reply
Ok, but is the opponent's saving throw rolled still random in this instance, or is it automatically a 20? Raelin (talk) 20:59, 24 January 2026 (CET)Reply
Automatically set to 20, with added modifiers as per usual (and can still fail the saving throw if the DC is high enough). Rydiak (talk) 21:09, 24 January 2026 (CET)Reply
OK. I tried again. Please let me know what you think. Raelin (talk) 23:41, 24 January 2026 (CET)Reply
Uh, it doesn't even make sense anymore and it probably way more complicated than it should be. Rydiak (talk) 01:28, 25 January 2026 (CET)Reply
I think I finally have it. Jeez, this one confounded me for a while... Raelin (talk) 08:06, 25 January 2026 (CET)Reply
