Talk:Haarlep
(no topic)[edit source]
I'd love a hand with the abilities icons, for some reason they're always broken for me.
Also, as a note, I kept references to Haarlep gender neutral just to be safe. Emeff (talk) 01:29, 2 December 2023 (CET)
- Fixed (: the claws link was just to the disambig page rather than an action page. Otherwise, if there's a broken file when using the SAI template (which is used by feature box), you can just create the File:... page as a redirect to the correct icon. -Twyrine (talk) 01:52, 2 December 2023 (CET)
On Haarlep's gender[edit source]
Given the ambiguity regarding Haarlep's gender, we're keeping the references as "they/them" for the sake of simplicity and to err on the side of caution. Emeff (talk) 03:03, 8 January 2024 (CET)
- Haarlep's sex is not "ambiguous". He's an incubus, which is a mythological male demon. This is a creature common to folklore across cultures. The complementary demon is a succubus. "They/them" is a plural pronoun - grammatically confusing, besides being incorrect substantively. 75.74.157.247 22:18, 21 May 2025 (CEST)
- These arguments are understandable and have merit. However, the game is played in Larian's universe with characters, monsters and other entities which were designed from its perspective and with the express blessing of WoTC.
- It is highly unlikely, and not really the place of this Wiki to challenge Larian's story-line, major elements or other designs in and for the game. Raelin (talk) 23:37, 21 May 2025 (CEST)
- Good argument but you're wrong. The narrator explicitly uses "his" in reference to Haarlep. See the section below. 24.10.119.187 04:36, 12 October 2025 (CEST)
- This is a good observation. However, the conversation you refer to has the Narrator commenting on Haarlep in their male form; Haarlep's gender changes if the player character asks them to. The game is replete with omissions and contradictions that do not change the overall consensus with regard to areas such as race and gender. Of note here is Wiktoria Kubien, who designed most of Haarlep's appearance and clothing. She refers to Haarlep as "Incubus/Succubus" and uses the pronoun "they". In short, your single source does not make for a compelling argument. Raelin (talk) 05:02, 12 October 2025 (CEST)
- The narrator is a better source on characterization than some random art staffer. If your position is "the narrator is wrong," then obviously accurately representing canon is less important than whatever agenda is being served by misgendering this clearly male character. 24.10.119.187 05:51, 12 October 2025 (CEST)
- Your opinion. Raelin (talk) 05:54, 12 October 2025 (CEST)
- Actually, the whole "they" invention for Haarlep is your opinion - not backed by reality, not supported by the narrator herself, and decisively not canon. It's your wiki, go ahead and invent things if you want, just be honest about the fact that you are completely breaking canon in order to misgender a character. 24.10.119.187 06:08, 12 October 2025 (CEST)
- Let's take a look at the script the narrator is reading from. Specifically, I suggest you take a gander at LOW_HouseOfHope_ROM_Incubus nodes 154, 95, and 64 as well as the dev notes attached to nodes 84 and 85. All of which, among others, use they/them. If you specifically find the narrators words to be the be all and end all, take a look at nodes 114 and 46.
- -----
- Node 114 - Narrator: *It's hopeless. Their hold on you is as warm as a blush, and as tight as a manacle.*
- Node 46 - Narrator: *You retain a trace of free will, but it is one drop in the ocean of their desire. It will not last.*
- -----
- Nobody is claiming that Larian was 100% consistent with this, or really any part of the cannon (see Balduran's timeline), but gender neutral pronouns have clear canonical precedence Capranaut (talk) 08:21, 12 October 2025 (CEST)

Note to add about Raphael's sexual performance[edit source]
If you ask Haarlep if Raphael is good in bed, they will laugh heartily and respond with "No". Choosing this lets the player reference his poor sexual performance prior to the fight with Raphael in the foyer.
Regarding Misty Escape[edit source]
I'm not sure where exactly to put this information but since it is Haarlep's most notable (and frustrating) ability I think it's worth noting: Silence does NOT prevent Haarlep from using Misty Escape, but being knocked prone DOES.
Ways to Get The Safe Key[edit source]
Just wanted to note that there is an alternative way to get the key from Haarlep - if you get into the room from the back balcony before being invited in, you can sneak and pickpocket the key off them. This lets you just pass a perception check in the room to find the safe, without ever having to fight or have sex with Haarlep. 74.109.11.102 19:24, 4 May 2024 (CEST)
Speak With Dead[edit source]
Can the protection be lifted or can a moderator add the variant question 'How do I get my contract?' to his Speak With Dead dialogue? Si1verwing713 (talk)
- Please sign your requests / commments with ~~~. What is the answer to the mentioned question? Hawkeye (talk)
- Sorry. It's the exact same answer as 'How do I reach the Orphic Hammer?' already listed on the page; the only difference is the question depending on the player's choice in the quest 'Deal With the Devil'. Si1verwing713 (talk)
- Ok,. thanks. It's added now Hawkeye (talk)

Jaheira[edit source]
This is the only encounter ive seen that you can have a sex scene involving Jaheira. 73.223.221.46 14:06, 12 April 2025 (CEST)
Recommend reworking companion approval section to icon style[edit source]
It's much easier to read at a glace. See: Dialogs\Act3\LowerCity\HouseOfHope\LOW_HouseOfHope_ROM_Incubus for approval flags not currently reflected here Capranaut (talk) 09:37, 3 October 2025 (CEST)
Disambiguation[edit source]
The SAI link to "Claws" should be replaced with the intended ability, currently it points at a disambig page Capranaut (talk) 04:17, 8 October 2025 (CEST)
Fix the pronouns[edit source]
If you agree to remove your clothes for Haarlep, the narrator says: "His violating stare sees more than all of you. It sees potential."
Pronouns are he/him. They need to be fixed.

- Also, if given the option to choose their gender, where the player character states their preference by saying, "it matters not to me"", Haarlep chooses to be female. Raelin (talk) 22:17, 18 October 2025 (CEST)
