Hunger of Hadar lasts 10 turns but is listed without a duration.

I think it is because, on the back end, the spell creates an area with a duration of 10 turns instead of having a duration limit itself. I don't know if this has to do with the way the spell is scripted in-game or just the way spell data is handled on the wiki. Either way it's a subtilty that is not exactly relevant in gameplay and the duration should be listed for the spell.

As for fixing it here: The data for the table is imported from elsewhere. I don't happen to already know how to work with tables like this but I plan to look into it. But I don't want to mess with data that I don't fully understand so unless I get the go-ahead from someone who knows what is going on with the spell duration information situation I'll hold off on fixing it until/unless I've looked into it enough to understand what I'm doing.

Good catch. If you're not already in the discord I'd recommend joining. I just threw a note about this in the wiki-technical channel, but tl;dr there are duration, condition duration, and area duration parameters. The spell table (which is flagged for replacement, but spelltable still draws from) only tracks condition duration, the features table (which is supposed to replace it) only tracks duration. Wrt this issue, it sounds like it probably impacts a lot of other tables on the wiki. I’ll look into it a bit more (probably read the discussion on Discord) and probably look to the features table talk page (or wherever the migration from the spell table is being organized) for any further work on this issue. Just a heads up, but I recently updated the spell table template to use the updated database table, which can pull duration from multiple sources, so it should work now. There are a few odd issues I can see (e.g. when there are two or more durations) but should be a lot better now. HiddenDragon (talk) 23:48, 10 September 2026 (CEST)
