Exploit[edit source]

Warding bond persists even if you have withers completly get rid of the hirelinv . Meaning you have warding bond even tho there is no-one to recieve the redirected damage, so it cant wear off till you long rest. I make a cleric cast warding bond on all four of my party, then have withers dismiss him to camp and then get rid of him entirely and go adventuring . Rehire the same hireling at the end of the day and repeat after resting.

What happens when -receiving- Warding Bond from multiple characters?[edit source]

Warding Bond does not activate when cast on a character, which has cast Warding Bond themselves. The Wiki makes it sound like the buff is not simply removed, but remains in an inactive state ("(Resistances and bonuses to Armour Class and Saving Throws are removed, and damage is not redirected)"). This would imply that once the recipient ends their Warding Bond with someone else, the effect of the Warding Bond they are receiving might become active. What happens if two characters cast Warding Bond on a third character? The positive effects of Warding Bond obviously do not stack, since the recipient can not be affected by the effects of the same spell twice (and Resistances do not stack to begin with) and I assume that this also applies to the damage transfer, although I am not sure how the game handles that mechanically. But does the second cast fail, or also remain but in an inactive state? If it remains in an inactive state, would it activate once the first Warding Bond somehow expires? The practical application of this would be the ability to cast multiple instances of Warding Bond on the same character, so that the positive effects persist even after the first caster died from the received damage (e.g. a Hireling in Camp being used to buff party members). The redundancy of having all Hirelings cast Warding Bond on all party members might then be preferable to Goodberries as only alternative for utilizing excess Spell Slots from Camp. - A

Does Gale heal in camp when receiving damage through Warding Bond?[edit source]

I have read that Gale heals himself when he takes damage in Camp. Does this apply to damage he receives through Warding Bond? If it does, it would make Gale the best character to cast Warding Bond from camp, since he can cast it on all party members without any risk of dying, outside of freak accidents with ridiculous damage numbers. He would not need to invest in any defensive Features either. - A

This has been answered elsewhere and still seems to work! However, investing in some defensive Features might help prevent mishaps with some unfortunate consequences. - A
