Lyrthindor can also be killed before encountering Yurgir in the first place, if the player heads towards Balthazar and the Gauntlet's trials first instead of encountering the displacer beast and attacks the rats along the way. If the player then goes to Yurgir's hideout, he will be encountered in the process of leaving the temple, and will not attack unless prompted.
