Freecast is a toggleable passive feature and a power available to Partial-Illithids. It allows them to bypass the normal expenditure of spell slots, charges or other similar resource costs for their next chosen Action, once per Long Rest.
Description
You have discovered a marvellous adaptability within yourself. Spell slots, charges, and similar resource costs for your next action or spell are removed. Refreshes after a Long Rest.

How to learn
Other ways to learn:
- After becoming a Partial-Illithid, unlock from the illithid power skill tree with a Mind Flayer Parasite Specimen after obtaining one of the following:
Notes
- If the player character with Freecast has every equipment slot occupied and unequips anything, Freecast comes back - even if already used and not having Long Rested. In other words, one can infinitely use Freecast for every action out of combat. During combat, reequiping takes an action so one cannot (re)use Freecast during the same round (fixed in patch 8? [Needs Verification]).
- A spellcaster with two levels of Sorcerer can use this bug to gain unlimited spell slots and sorcery points, as freecast removes the cost of Create Spell Slot and Create Sorcery Points.
- If an action takes more than one type of resource (e.g., Metamagic Quicken Spell with any spell that is not a cantrip), both costs are removed.
- Prior to Patch 6, this feature did not remove Channel Oath costs.
Bugs
- When fast traveling between areas that require a loading screen (such as between Act 1 and Act 2, or between the Lower City and Rivington), Freecast and many other abilities have their cooldowns reset.
- This allows for multiple Freecast uses in a day, which can be quite useful for buffs or summons requiring high level spell slots such as , , and more.
- Freecast can be easily reset by having another character apply a condition (such as or ) on the character seeking to (re)use Freecast.
