Magic Missile bugs/unmentioned abilities[edit section]

Not sure how this gets populated onto the main page, but I encountered several buggy behaviors with the Illithids' Magic Missile. First, it seems like they can bypass Shield and do full damage. When I tried to use Shield, it only blocked the first casting - all the other Illithids MM hit me for full damage.

Their version of magic missile also seems to bypass resistance to force damage, as I took full damage while having an Elixir of Universal Resistance going. Erronius (talk) 21:57, 18 February 2026 (CET)Reply

The issue with these magic missiles bypassing Shield is noted on Shield's page, but that note should be reproduced here as well.
As for them bypassing force resistance, I'm not sure what could be causing that. NtCarlson (talk) 22:13, 18 February 2026 (CET)Reply
Hmm, didn't reproduce the bypassing force resistance issue when I just tried, so I can't swear to that one, yet. The description here for Magic Missile is also incorrect; they shoot 6 darts, not 3. I'm not sure how the Empowered Evocation should be represented, but they add their +4 intelligence to each missile. So the ingame tooltip lists this as 6d4+6, or 12-30 damage. In reality, it's 6*(1d4 + 5), for a total range of uh, 36-54 if my math is correct. The spell also has a 30 yard range. I see the "Involvement" section covers this imprecisely but the linked version of magic missile is still off by a factor of 5 on the damage. Erronius (talk) 22:27, 18 February 2026 (CET)Reply
Thanks. The wiki's templates are a bit lacking when it comes to upcast spells, so I think I'll just make a new page for the arcanist's version of MM to sidestep that issue. NtCarlson (talk) 22:29, 18 February 2026 (CET)Reply
Should be correctly displayed now. NtCarlson (talk) 22:52, 18 February 2026 (CET)Reply
