A Repulsion Mine is a unique type of Trap that might be encountered at the Rosymorn Monastery Trail and Creche Y'llek during Act One.
Overview[edit | edit source]
Act One[edit | edit source]
Repulsion mines are hidden mechanisms, possibly of githyanki design. At Rosymorn Monastery Trail, three repulsion mines are planted along the cliffs at X: -71 Y: -40, X: -68 Y: -33 and X: -63 Y: -26.
The party might set these traps off if they ignore the cable car (or fail the DC 15 Strength check to turn its wheel) and walk down the trail between rocky cliffs. Several more such devices can be found in the Hatchery of the crèche.
Once triggered, repulsion mines use a unique type of attack (of the same name), which emits a Psychic blast on all nearby targets, pushing them back 5 m. Unlike most other traps, repulsion mines require a DC 13
Dexterity saving throw. The main danger from repulsion mines is being flung into the chasm. If in the hatchery, the trap can fling party members onto an
acid surface, in a
cloud of gas, or onto an active Teleporting Trap.
Repulsion mines can be spotted with a DC 15 Perception check and disarmed with
DC 10 Sleight of Hand check. If disarming, the party must have a
Trap Disarm Toolkit in their inventory. After disarming, the repulsion mine breaks into inactive metal pieces.
