Players are given a limited number of opportunities to interact with Elminster. The list below contains the situations currently known, but it may not be complete, and conditions may vary for Origin Gale vs. Companion Gale.
Elminster can first be found near the entrance to the [[Shadow-Cursed Lands]] from [[Rosymorn Monastery Trail]] or near the ruined Sharran temple if the party used the elevator from [[Grymforge]], assuming [[Gale]] is still alive and has not left the party. [[Gale]]'s personal quest [[The Wizard of Waterdeep]] must have progressed to the point where his condition is no longer responding to treatment for Elminster to appear. If Gale does not receive all three items by the time he reaches the Shadow-Cursed Lands, then Elminster appears in camp after a long rest once he has received the last item.
