The silent reminder of a fallen character

A Soul Echo is a reminder of a fallen player character, companion, or hireling which appears near the point of their death in case of their body is unavailable (e.g., disappeared in a Chasm). The character portrait in the sidebar in this case features a Soul EchoSoul Echo icon, in addition to a DeadDead condition icon.

Soul Echo looks like a floating flicker of a blue flame, resembling a will-o-wisp. It can be looted as any dead party member's corpse, preserving all items which were stored in the character's inventory at the moment of their death. However, equipped items like armour and weapons remain unreachable until the character in question is resurrected.

It is possible to use any means of resurrection such as a Scroll of Revivify or the respective skills of a PaladinPaladin, ClericCleric or BardBard on a Soul Echo; all function as if cast on a dead character. The resurrected character appears nearby with 1 hit point.

Party members turned into Soul Echoes can be also revived by WithersWithers upon returning to the Campsite.

Flickers of floating flames resembling Soul Echoes also appear in Philgrave's Mansion while Mystic CarrionMystic Carrion is still alive. He talks to them, calling them "spirits", gives them orders and generally mistreats them. These objects are uninteractable.
