House of Grief is a location in the Lower City of Baldur's Gate in Act Three.
Area Information
Mirie staffs the desk at the front inside and will take the party through the locked double doors to Mapping Room, either if you have Shadowheart in your party or otherwise agree to partake in a Mapping of the Heart. These double doors can additionally be bypassed with the Grief Key she carries on her person.
Within the Mapping Room, a member of the party can undergo a brief, ritualistic interview with the Inquirer of Grief to have their heart "mapped." If Shadowheart is with the party, the Inquirer will reveal a secret passage to the Cloister of Sombre Embrace; if the mapping was conducted without Shadowheart, then the passage will reveal itself when Shadowheart is brought into the room. The button to open this passage can be revealed without the mapping by passing a DC 20 Investigation check or by killing the staff and guards upstairs.
An intact Mirror of Loss can be found at X: -474 Y: -1650.
Beneath the House of Grief lies the Cloister of Sombre Embrace, the clandestine headquarters for Baldur's Gate's Shar worshippers, led by Mother Superior Viconia DeVir.
