If the player fails to outdrink Thisobald, or chooses to fight him, Thisobald and all accompanying Undead in the Waning Moon will turn hostile.
Thisobald is immune to Slashing, Piercing, Bludgeoning and Thunder damage. Parties without elemental attacks will find it difficult to damage Thisobald.
However, upon being hit with an elemental attack, Thisobald's Reflux ability will adopt the element and retain it until his next turn, i. e. using Fire damage gives him Fire Reflux. There are some exceptions to this.
Radiant ➀ Fire
Psychic ➀ No Change
Thunder ➀ Lightning
Attacking him with two different elements before his next turn, or using Necrotic damage against him turns the brew Rotten, resulting in Necrotic Reflux.
When Thisobald is imbued with elemental Reflux, he will use it to damage a cone shaped area in front of him, with the respective Reflux damage type, about the size of a dragonborn's breath attack, and creates an elemental ground surface, i.e. ice, acid.
Every time Thisobald uses Reflux, he becomes more Inebriated, a condition that gives him Disadvantage on Wisdom saving throws. After using Reflux three times, Thisobald is Knocked Out for one turn. While Knocked Out, he is vulnerable to Slashing, Piercing, Bludgeoning and Thunder damage, his AC is reduced by 5 and he is incapacitated.
