A Marble Plate is a common type of Trap that might be encountered almost in every location of the game.

A Marble Plate is a slab of stone hidden upon the surface among similar ones. Technically it is not a trap itself, but an item that might activate a dangerous device (or even a system of connected devices) planted nearby. Stepping on it (and thus exerting pressure on the concealed mechanism) would, for example, trigger a mine or cause any other harmful effect.

Marble Plates are implied to set off simultaneously a group of harmful devices (for example, Gas Vents or Gargoyle Heads) in order to cause massive damage to a trespasser who proceeds into locations where their presence is obviously unwanted.

Most often Marble Plates are encountered inside buildings and other structures, where they can be easily concealed between other slabs of the floor pavement. Usually they can be seen even if not detected yet, as they are depicted as heavily chiseled panels with elaborate floral patterns.

As the function of a Marble Plate is to activate a trap (or a series of traps), for the purposes of adapting to the game mechanics it was made possible to detect via Perception skill check and then disarm just like common trap via Sleight of Hand skill (requires a Trap Disarm Toolkit in the inventory of the interacting party member). Minimal requirement is a DC 10 Sleight of Hand check roll, but the Difficulty Class may vary depending on circumstances.

If a Marble Plate is planted as a trigger for a system of several harmful devices, then disarming it alone renders the whole system inactive. Disarming Marble Plates has all the effects and consequences of possible roll outcomes, as when dealing with any other type of Traps.

After disarming, a Marble Plate will be depicted as a stone slab broken into shards, which still fill its gap in the surface similar to a mosaic.
