Psionic Dominance

Psionic Dominance is a passive feature/reaction and Illithid Power. This feature allows a character to use a reaction to nullify a spell of lower or equal level to their Proficiency Bonus when targeted by an enemy within 18m.

Description

When an enemy within 18 m (60 ft) targets you with a spell of a Level that is lower than or equal to your Proficiency Bonus, you can use your reaction to nullify the spell.

Other ways to learn:

• After becoming a Partial-Illithid, unlock from the illithid power skill tree with a Mind Flayer Parasite Specimen after obtaining one of the following:
  •  Charm
  •  Black Hole

Notes

• Normally, this reaction can counter a spell of up to level 4 since that is the usual maximum proficiency bonus. However, on Explorer difficulty, the proficiency bonus of all characters is increased by 2. This means Psionic Dominance can counter up to level 6 spells on Explorer difficulty, including when enemies use it against the party. Custom difficulty offers a slider to adjust the proficiency bonus which has the same effect.

Bugs

• This reaction cannot be used while affected by  Starry Form or when  Disguised.
