Shovel is bored! Shovel wants to murderise!
Overview
Shovel is a carefree and upbeat fiend that finds joy in murder, arson and eating babies. She is impatient, and very easily gets bored. In spite of her irreverent demeanour, Shovel can be deeply loyal, even when denied the many pleasures of violence.

Personality
Summoning Shovel
There are two ways of summoning Shovel:
Shovel finds joy in murder and arson, and very easily gets bored. She enjoyed working with their former master, necromancer Toth, even though he often forgot to feed her.
* Temporarily via the Scroll of Summon Quasit found in the Apothecary's Cellar.

** The scroll can also be scribed by wizards, allowing them to permanently acquire the spell.
Acquiring Shovel
* Permanently via a missable dialogue, unlocking an action to summon her, located in the Common tab. This spell is not lost on resetting the caster's levels through Withers.

Shovel can be summoned temporarily via the Scroll of Summon Quasit found in the Apothecary's Cellar.

Scribing the spell will allows a Wizard to permanently keep the spell.

Sorcerers, Warlocks, and Wizards can also gain the spell permanently by talking to Shovel after summoning her in the Apothecary's Cellar. This process can be a bit finnicky and might fail if done incorrectly. To do this, follow this procedure carefully:

#Have the character who you want to give the summon spell to be one of the magical classes mentioned above, and that character has to be the one that first uses the scroll to summon Shovel.
Permanently acquiring Shovel
#They must pick the first dialog option except for when it says "No. And you'll...", then go up to the Ornate Mirror but do not talk to it yet. Save your game to be safe.
Sorcerers, warlocks and wizards can gain the spell permanently by talking to Shovel after using the scroll to summon her in the Apothecary's Cellar, and then selecting any dialogue option except for '"No. And you'll ..."'.
#Successfully get through the mirror, walk through and IMMEDIATELY talk to Shovel again just on the other side of the mirror. Her dialogue should mention noticing you are a magic user and agreeing you're her new master. If you have walked too far into the room past the mirror and her dialogue line is along the lines of "See? Trust me"...the point to get her has been bypassed and you will need to reload the save and re-attempt the process. Once that Trust Me line is spoken Shovel will never go back and mention noticing you as a magic user who can summon her.

If acquired this way, the spell is located in the Common tab and not lost upon respeccing.
The caster must then get past the Ornate Mirror in the same location, and must then immediately talk to Shovel again on the other side. When done correctly, she will refer to the caster as a magic user, and her new '"master"'.

If Shovel is summoned by scribing the spell on one character and spoken to with another, the spell can be gained by two separate characters.
If the caster proceeds too far into the room on the other side of the mirror, Shovel will instead initiate a dialogue about trust, bypassing the point at which the spell can be permanently unlocked. If this happens, there is no way to permanently acquire Shovel as a familiar.

Notes
History
Shovel was owned by the necromancer Toth, who was a cruel and neglectful master. He would often verbally and physically abuse her, and often forgot to feed her. In spite of this, Shovel enjoyed working with her former master.Dialogue with Shovel, when spoken to in Apothecary's Cellar.

*Shovel is fond of eating babies.
Footnotes
*Summoning Shovel unlocks a Steam achievement titled "Rude, Crude, and Full of Attitude" whose description reads: "Find and summon the quasit Shovel. Or is her name... Fork? Maybe Basket?" This confirms that Shovel is canonically female, which isn't very obvious in-game.
