Protection from Energy Acid.webp

Sizzling Cataclysm is a level 4 evocation spell. It is a variant of Kereska's Favour that allows its caster to imbue themselves with the power of acid and unlock resistances and spells associated with it. It is granted by Markoheshkir.

Embrace Kereska's acid to gain resistance to Damage TypesAcid damage. Your acid spells deal additional Damage TypesAcid damage equal to your proficiency bonus.

When you deal spell damage, possibly inflict 3[See Notes] turns of Noxious Fumes Noxious Fumes upon the target. While attuned to Kereska's acid you can cast Melf's Acid Arrow Melf's Acid Arrow and Hunger of Hadar Hunger of Hadar once each per short rest.

Notes

  • The in-game tooltip for this spell says its effect inflicts Noxious Fumes for 1 turn, but it actually inflicts it for 3 turns. It also requires a DC 13  Dexterity saving throw to apply the condition.
  • Possibly applying Noxious Fumes can only occur once per attack. A spell hitting multiple targets will still only make a single saving throw for one of the targets to apply the condition.
  • This is the only variant of Kereska's Favour Kereska's Favour that requires a saving throw to inflict its condition. The ice, thunder, and poison variants all apply their respective conditions without a saving throw.
  • The version of Melf's Acid Arrow Melf's Acid Arrow granted by this spell matches the damage of a level 5 upcasted version (7d4Damage TypesAcid + 5d4Damage TypesAcid delayed), but it only counts as a level 2 spell.
