Box Towers are structures constructed of Crates, Trunks, and similar stackable items to create an artificial elevated platform. Although they can be established at any time, they can also be erected in battle, as placing items does not consume an action. Box towers can be used to:
- Have companions and / or hirelings jump to their , if desired for some reason
- Increase the damage done by dropped objects through the Falling damage mechanic
- Keep a character dealing damage with thrown objects out of combat through sufficient distance[1]
- Prepare for planned encounters where certain tactical advantages are sought:
- The first or second assault on the Emerald Grove
- Lae'zel's romance battle
- Fighting Nere at Grymforge
The maximum height which can be obtained using box towers varies depending on the base level height from which the party starts erecting a tower at. Of note: at a certain height (approximately 40 crates, but possibly varying depending on the party's base level height), there is a brief graphics glitch that can occasionally soft lock an existing play session and / or save, including honour mode runs. Resolving this issue may require loading an earlier save, or - in the case of honour runs - bypassing the save file restrictions.
