- This item originally provided the same effect as a regular Headband of Intellect, setting Intelligence to 19. However, this was decreased to 17 to reduce its power.
- Most effective on characters that both need Intelligence as a secondary ability score and also have several other needed ability scores, such as Eldritch Knight Fighters and Arcane Trickster Rogues.
- If Wizards use this item to be able to prepare more spells than they are normally able to, all those spells will stay prepared even after taking it off.
- If convinced to fight for the party, Lump can be called and looted later within Act One.
