Will the zulkirs find me before I can bring her back? I cannot say, but if they do come for me, they'll have to face the guardians I've raised.

Overview[edit | edit source]

While in the village Ilyn Toth hid his tattoos and locked away his red robes, believing himself to pass as a simple healer. However, the Druids of the nearby Emerald Grove did note reports of a Red Wizard the same year.[3]

While he was in Moonhaven, he continued his necromantic research, striving for a true restoration of life rather than simple reanimation.[4] He also recorded every instance of a person arriving or leaving Moonhaven, taking pains to note whether they were Thayan.[5]

He had in his possession the rare magical tome Necromancy of Thay, which he believed contained the knowledge he needed. However, the tome resisted his attempts to unearth its secrets.[6]

At some point Toth reached out to the library of the High Heralds, claimed to be a researcher with a "casual interest" in studying of the tome Necromancy of Thay.[7] The library of the High Heralds, however, denied his request for research material, correctly assessing that his motives went beyond a casual interest.

His logbook notes that the key gem for the tome went missing on the 14th of Nightal of an unknown year. One day later, his apprentice disappears near the well. The logbook then proceeds to note a raid three days later, on the 18th. On the 20th, in the last entry of the logbook, Ilyn records seeing smoke on the horizon.[8] He was ultimately killed in a Dark Justiciar raid led by the Oathbreaker Ketheric Thorm Ketheric Thorm.[9][10]
