Involvement
As progressing through Cazador's Dungeon, the party inevitably will pass by a prison containing Sebastian. If Astarion is in the party, he starts to comment on the prisoners. Sebastian recognizes his voice, the voice that lured him into Cazador's clutches. He recounts how they met in a tavern, got drunk, and romanced each other, before lunging at the bars in a desperate attempt to take his anger out on Astarion.
As Astarion and the party try to reckon with this information, Sebastian quietly asks how long he's been imprisoned. Astarion informs him that it's been 170 years and he sobs as he realizes that all his family and friends are long dead.
The player character can then promise to free him, tell him to stop whining, or leave:
- [PERSUASION] We'll set you free. (DC 15)
- [INTIMIDATION] Stop whining - the only thing that matters is killing Cazador. He's responsible for all of this. (DC 15)
- [PERSUASION] Cazador plans to use you in his ritual - that's why he scarred you. Let us help. (DC 15 )
- We need to go. Now.
Failing any of these ability checks, or picking the last option, or not feeing him after promising to free him results in him cursing Astarion to the hells. Astarion then gains the condition, which can be removed using .
If asking him how to free the prisoners, he informs the party that Cazador's staff Woe is the key.
If choosing to free the imprisoned vampire spawns after killing Cazador, then Sebastian will escape and send a letter to the epilogue party.
